I got on this train in Tacoma and finally got off in Klamuth Falls. We were delayed there waiting for the cororner as a man had died. I spent an enormous amount of money taking alternate transportation and extra days in hotels due to this disaster. I’m hoping for reimbursement but from researching the internet today, I am not too hopefull

Ben..the problem began when the train was 6 hours late leaving Seattle. When it arrived in Tacoma we were given the famous speach that trains can make up time. Well, according to several employees, once late, the train only continues to be later & later. My biggiest beef is that we should have been told that getting on that late train could delay our trip drastically. At that point, there were options. Unfortunately I found myself on a train that was 9 hours late getting to Klamuth Falls and was being told it would take another 12 hours to get to Sacramento. So you are on a train with no way to make other arrangements - I felt like a prisoner - it was awful! They need to park these trains and forget it.

1131on 8 15. one hour late leaving seattle. no lounge car, we were told tey were too expensive to maintain. southbound and northbound menus are the same. [microwave warmed food] plastic dishes , cups. sleeper passengers were treated to two cases of pop and a bag of ice, located inthe last sleeping compartment on the train. train breakdown at chemult for two hours. oh yes, the food would not satisfy a denny’s customer
intercoms did not work, having ridde the starlight yesrlyfor many years, i feel guilty if anyone i praised this train to used my recommendation. this was a special trip for my grand=daughters, and they gotto see almost no scenert. i must praise the train crew. they seemed to work doubly hard to make the trip bearable. [they didn’t succeed. good bye amtrak, you cheepened yourself out of my business
