Did you have anything on a Chicago-to-Quincy
Amtrak train 12/28/07 allegedly
running out of fuel just over half-way down the trip
and arriving about 4-5 hours late?
Thanks, Don

Amtrak knew the schdeuled track maintenance was from 9:00PM until 2:00AM. Amtrak did not inform the teacher or chaperones of this window so they could make other arrangements to get the children home. They knew they were going to run into another delay. And then never took into condideration the crew work hrs. There was complete lack of communication from Amtrak to the teacher and chaperones.

To make it simple, at the Stockton station, Amtrak should of notified the school that there could be more delays after the train departed Stockton with no definite schedule of arrival in Corcoran. The school district then could of made other arrangements to have the children back home.

the train was held at denair because bnsf railroad closed the tracks to perform maintenance, the original crew was able to work until 2:50 am, if that didn't happen, they could have easily made bakersfield.
